What is Ketosis and is it Really Safe!
Interview with Dr. Scott Vatcher

I’m just a regular guy. I’m a Canadian who now lives in Australia. I am also a coach, mentor, wellness expert, international speaker, paediatric chiropractor, entrepreneur and podcaster. And somewhere in amongst all that I find the time to be a dad and a husband, a fitness advocate and I run a number of successful businesses. I’m a busy guy who likes to get sh*t done! My background in the health and wellness industry over the past 20+ years as a student, mentor, teacher and lecturer has allowed me to accumulate a ton of information on what some people now call bio-hacking (using techniques, foods, exercises, supplements etc to ‘hack’ into the biology of better health, fitness and performance). I have experimented with many many many weird and wonderful ways to achieve these states of optimising human potential. The best one I have found to date is something you may not have even heard of yet… its called Ketosis.

I first started on my Ketosis journey about 3 years ago when someone told me there was a diet that was super high in fat AND was good for you! Like most people I was skeptical. I had tried numerous different eating habits (diets) over the years including South Beach, Atkins, high protein, high carb, low carb, juice cleanses, fasting, intermittent fasting etc etc and was following a Paleo diet when this came across my plate (pun intended!). It was called a Ketogenic diet.
When I looked into it further I was excited to see there was quite a lot of scientific, experimental and anecdotal basis to this diet. I started reading books by Jimmy Moore (Keto Clarity) and David Asprey (The Bullet Proof Diet) who really dug deep into the science behind a ketogenic diet and how to optimise ketones in your blood (called ketosis). The basic low down is that by eating a high fat, lower protein, low carbohydrate diet you could switch your body from a sugar burning machine into a fat burning machine! Sounds good right?! Well on top of burning fat for fuel there seemed to be other more incredible benefits such as decreasing inflammation throughout the body and having a protective effect on the brain itself! If this is not bio-hacking for better performance and potential then I don’t know what is!

After doing my research I started out on my first experimental ‘keto’ diet. My measuring sticks for success were that I wanted to:

  •  feel better
  •  have more energy
  •  increase my focus 
  •  decrease my brain fog
  •  and lose the 5-10 kgs (10-20 pounds) of weight that I had put on during my first few years as a Dad

At the end of a 3 month period where I was very strict with my dietary changes I was both happy and sad with my results. I did feel better and have more energy and less brain fog (which was great) but I had actually gained 2.5 kg of weight! Not the result I was looking for, especially seeing as I was very strict with my diet (you wouldn’t think so but eating that much fat is actually really hard to do!).

So disappointingly I put my keto lifestyle on hold for a while. I thought that if I had gotten all the benefits I was hoping for then the sacrifice of doing this style of diet would be worth it. Eating so much fat and so little carbs (sugars) was very tough on me and my family. I was eating at different times and having different meals which took its toll on my family life. So for all these reasons I choose to go back to a paleo style of diet.

It was a few months after this time that I was listening to a podcast by Tim Ferris about ketosis where he was interviewing a scientist (Dom D’Agostino) about this new product called an exogenous ketone (Keto//OS) which allowed anyone to get into a sate of ketosis (ketones in your blood) without having to do the extreme diet! I was intrigued and excited!

And super skeptical! Nothing like this had ever been on the market before. It claimed to get whoever took the supplement into ketosis in 30-60 minutes (guaranteed!) no matter what you were eating! Anyone who knows anything about how hard it is to get into ketosis using dietary means and how difficult it is to stay in ketosis once you get there would agree that this sounded too good to be true!

So after listening to this podcast the first thing I did was jump online to see how I could get these exogenous ketones that he talked about. It took some doing (which i will spare you the details on) but when I finally did get these pure therapeutic ketones delivered in the mail you could guess that I was more than excited to try them out.

I got a 30 day Keto//OS pack (Chocolate Swirl) to start this new journey. I was using myself as a guinea pig one more time and set myself up for success. I knew that by using the supplement I would not have to be nearly as strict with my diet to hopefully achieve my goals. They were essentially the same goals as last time. I wanted to:

Well I can tell you the results were very different this time around! I felt incredible, had ridiculous amounts of energy, was getting more done than I had in years and as far as body composition I think the photos speak for themselves! The first picture is me on Day 1 and the second is me on Day 30 using Keto//OS once per day, training regularly and reducing my carbohydrate (nothing like what is needed to reach ketosis strictly with diet). I lost 5.2 kg (12 pounds) and 9 cm off my waist! And at the same time I put on muscle mass with an extra 1 cm on my arms and 2 cm on my chest!

No special lighting or anything on these photos. Just some hard work and being able to stay in a state of ketosis through taking Keto//OS daily allowed me to feel better and perform better. I was hooked! And have been ever since!

If you are looking for better energy, better focus, better fat loss, decreased inflammation, and to feel better then you seriously need to try this. Personally I recommend purchasing a 20 serve or 30 serve box to see best results. But if that is too much of a commitment at this stage just give it a try with a 5 serve pack.
